Sharie Atley offers private piano lessons from her home studio on Promontory in Chilliwack for students of all ages and levels. With many years of teaching experience and advanced music degrees from UBC, she provides supportive, personalized lessons that help students develop strong technique and enjoy making music. Lessons may include Royal Conservatory repertoire as well as pop, gospel, improvisation, playing by ear, and composition.
I've always enjoyed teaching music and started teaching piano when I was 14 years old! After doing my ARCT diploma at 18, I ended up at UBC in the Bachelor of Music program and then did a Masters degree there as well. I've taught at Capilano College, Douglas College and the last ten years at the Chilliwack Academy of Music, but I am now happy to work out of my home studio on Promontory in Chilliwack.
I have a great variety of students in my studio from 6 to 86! We do a tremendous range of piano repetoire from Baroque to Modern, including Pop, Gospel, Improvisation, Playing by Ear and Composition. Some students prepare for Royal Conservatory Piano and Theory exams, others just want to improve their technique and sight reading, so they can take on whatever piano music they wish to. My goal is for my students to really grow to love music and be motivated to play for the rest of their lives!
