Joyce R. Dyck holds ARCT diplomas in both Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Growing up in Chilliwack, she studied music locally and in Vancouver, beginning a lifelong journey in music education and performance.
Over the years, Joyce has directed children’s choir musicals and performed in many settings including churches, care homes, weddings, memorials, and with a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles. A highlight of her career has been performing for over 30 years with the Young Street Vocal Band, a gospel group founded by her husband Wayne Dyck. The group has performed across Western Canada, toured Russia and Poland, and recorded 13 CDs.
Joyce teaches the Royal Conservatory curriculum in piano performance and theory rudiments, while also offering optional studies in popular and contemporary music, gospel music, chord chart reading, accompaniment skills, and improvisation. Her goal as a teacher is simple: to help students love music and share in the joy it brings.
