Carol began studying piano in Chilliwack at age six. During junior and senior high school I taught piano as a student music teacher. After high school I attended Bethany Bible Institute in Saskatchewan, where I received a diploma in Music and Theology. During that time I studied piano and worked toward my ARCT Piano Teacher’s diploma.
I then attended the University of Victoria and completed my Bachelor of Music degree, as well as my ARCT Piano Performer’s and LTCL Piano Performer’s diplomas. After graduating, I returned to Bethany Bible Institute and taught there for six years, both in the classroom and through many individual piano and theory lessons. I also led music drama teams that travelled across Canada and one summer to England.
I later worked for Saskatoon Youth for Christ for three years as a youth worker, again leading music drama teams that travelled across Canada and on one trip to Australia. In 1991 I returned to Chilliwack and worked in administration with Public Health for 31 years until retiring. Alongside my full-time work, I continued teaching piano privately and still enjoy teaching today.
At church I have had many opportunities to lead worship, sing, lead choirs, and play piano. I enjoy teaching students of all ages in a variety of styles, including graded Royal Conservatory music as well as contemporary, worship, improvisation, and playing by ear.
